Betty Kerns vs. John Bartley For Mayor?

Editor:  If these two people were the only people running for Mayor of Stillwater how would you vote?

Editor Note: I just went back and looked at the statistics for the month and each day Betty Kerns was mentioned in a header the numbers of readers have increased significantly. Is this a coincidence or what?

Commentator Aunt Judy: We know how Bartley voted for the police layoffs and that is enough for me to vote against him. To me the councilors need to be getting jobs coming back to Stillwater and fixing the Kaw Pipeline before starting a Maps program to put us even further in debt. I would love a Maps program when the time is right but with two major employers closing up and leaving in 2011, I would think promoting new companies to locate in those buildings would be one of the two top priorities. Secure water and jobs will make this town grow and then we can look at Maps but now isn’t the time.

Commentator Fringe dog: I would like to see a gal on the council also, but she must have the brass to bark and bite at those lap-dogs that are already there.

Commentator Old Timer: Do not know of any ladies in Stillwater with more brass than Betty Kerns.

Commentator Sideliner: You might as well get ready for the “maps” project, the GOB already have a plan on how to push it thru. Remember what they did to us when the Multigraphics building was voted down; now they have had to lease it out because of lack of funds.  Or is it lack of commitment on the Councils part; after all it is not a sports venue.

Commentator Vera Long: On September 12, John Bartley voted to accept public easement to serve PSA (Alexander) Building, 1900 North Jardot.  On November 7, he voted against the Student Housing Complex at 1900 North Jardot!  Which ever the wind blows, er, John.   Old Mama Dog

Editor: Seems like Bartley’s voting pattern has changed since the mayor topic arose and Hopkins figured out he couldn’t run because of term limits.
